It's a New Day!

We all love new beginnings and second chances. Maybe we’ve wronged another, or another has wronged us. Perhaps we’ve failed to get something accomplished that we had hoped, or we are late for the hundredth time. For some, we believe we’ve done too many ‘wrong’ things that either God cannot love us, or He will simply see us as hypocritical children.

Isaiah 1:18 speaks powerfully to second chances:

Come now, let us reason together, says the Lord: though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall become like wool.

As our minds swirl with unanswered questions, disappointments, or shame, God calls us to “reason together.” Translated: stop long enough to hear this: It’s okay; I’m giving you another chance.

Our sin, our wrongs, our omissions have been laid at the cross and washed away.

If you aren’t convinced of this, hear Isaiah 43:18-19:

Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

This new year is filled with many options: grab ahold of the new life in Christ, accept the forgiveness that is outstretched to you, believe that the “former has passed away” and that “God is making all things new!”

We all need new beginnings sometimes. We all thirst for second chances.

Praise be to God that He has offered us both this new year, and each new morning.
