A Poem for My New Name

A Poem for My New Name

You can't tell me anything I don't already know,
my credit cards are high and my car's gas is low.
I go to the bank and they say, "How about a loan!"
They ask for my tax returns and I let out a moan.
Things haven't been the same since I got out of the "life,"
yet I'm still a daughter, a mother, a wife.
I pray God forgives me for the mistakes I have made.
I struggle each day and will take my secrets to the grave.
I hope my children don't find out what I've done,
but I'm thankful every day that I've turned and run.
It's hard not to look back and think of all that I had.
But whenever I do, it just makes me sad.
So now I look forward or "up" I should say,
because now I've found Jesus, I know my way.
