People Going Through A Rough Time

December 1, 2018

In the summer of 2016, I decided my children and I were going to make a major move to the city of St. Louis, Missouri. My best friend from my home town of Decatur, Illinois had a huge three bedroom home, and she assured me that it was no problem for my family and I to reside with her until I found us a place of our own.

The move didn't go as planned and we ended up moving into a small, dirty, seedy hotel. This became our home for the next 3 months. My children were so disappointed in me, and I began to blame and question did I make the right decision. I cried daily and so did my children. It was one of the lowest points of my entire life. I had failed my children as a mother. I was constantly getting turned down for homes because of my criminal background. I cried out to God on a daily basis for help, and I thought He didn't hear my cries. I felt so abandoned and alone. I had put so much faith into people but not into God.

Psalm 118:8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.

I remember the day so vividly. I was on my knees crying and sobbing hysterically. I was at my breaking point for sure. I was praying fervently, and my phone began to ring. Usually I wouldn't answer my phone during prayer, but the Holy Spirit told me to answer it. This was too important. When I picked up the phone it was a landlord telling me to come and look at a house. Later that day I signed my lease at our new home!

People may disappoint you, but God never will!

Proverbs 29:25 The fear of man lays a snare, but whoever trusts in the Lord is safe.
